FATA POSTER NIKLA HERO!!! By Cl. Jeswin Mastan sdb
FATA POSTER NIKLA HERO!!!
DEAR
FRIENDS OF DON BOSCO,
I guess you might know, how from zero one
turns to be a hero.
But
do you know the history of OUR FATA POSTER NIKLA HERO.
On 16 august 1815, in becchi HE was born,
To
Melchior his father and Margaret his mom.
In 1824 @ 9 HE had a vision,
This
soon became the Salesian mission.
So you might ask what about his
consecration?
On 5th June 1841 He received
sacerdotal ordination.
No
wonder by approving the rules of the constitution,
On
18th December 1859 HE founded the Salesian congregation.
Though
he had no much of world tour,
He
always had a great predilection for the poor.
He
did send his first missionaries to Argentina,
Because
He had a great devotion to our bl. Maddona.
On
31st Jan 1888, HE died at valdocco and on 1st April,
He
was canonised as St. John bosco.
From
188 onward till date 2014, his mission has grown so fast,
Indeed
one can say Salesian society is very vast.
In
5 continents to 132 countries with 90 provinces,
1811 houses and 97 other presences.
Though
you want to know more about his history,
I
am sorry for not sharing information about his ancestry.
Because
more then his history and ancestry,
You
need to know that this year is our hero’s birth bicentenary.
So
let us join the salesians in saying: GOD TUSSI GREAT HO! &
DON
BOSCO AAPKI JAI HO!
Because
not from zero to hero,
But
FATA POSTER NIKLA SALESIANS KA HERO!!!
Thus Don Bosco is my Hero.

Holiness Model of Don Bosco – a Spirituality of everyday Living by Cl. Joyston Machado sdb
Holiness Model of Don Bosco – a Spirituality of everyday Living
Simple things in life are often
the most difficult to talk about. Like the ordinary experience of a couple
together for 50years, or a simple conversation with someone you like.
Similarly, when we speak of spirituality we understand that it’s a means
through which God becomes meaningful to us. It is the art of linking the things
of heaven with those on earth. Spirituality as a path to heaven has to take
into account the path that we walk here on earth. Spirituality would therefore
mean having a sense of God, or a realization that reality is a mystery.
In Don
Bosco we see a man of God, who remained intensely human, in him we see a divine
presence that penetrated all his human works. The model of Don Bosco is a
tangible spirituality, not one that can be touched, but one that is lived. Don
Bosco’s sanctity was not outside the world, but from within the world. The
holiness model of Don Bosco is based on the three important pillars of his
life, namely Spirit of prayer, Work and Temperance, and finally Union with God.
Spirit
of prayer
Prayer
is not only a verbal utterance of words, but more so it is a way of life, a
synchronizing of the body, mind and spirit in Jesus. When we say we imitate Don
Bosco in prayer, we particularly stress on his spirit of prayer. He prayed at
all moments, whether during recreations, journeys and even during free moments.
Don Bosco who could do so much for the young teaches us that in our work for
and with the young prayer becomes the starting point and the thread that
sustains each other.
He
teaches us that our prayer needs to be:
·
Simple: heart to heart = in calling God
as a Father
·
Lively: with an interior joyful and
creativity
·
Authentic: spontaneously urging us to live
sincere lives
Work
and Temperance
For Don
Bosco work was a means to one’s sanctification. Working always for the coming
of the Kingdom, in other words for souls. With a spirit of prayer, Don Bosco
calls us to imitate him in turning our work into prayer. Not so much in
replacing work for prayer but work done in love and with charity.
Don
Bosco would say, ‘Work and temperance will make the congregation flourish’. By
temperance he meant self control and the training of the heart. It is the
moderation of one’s inclinations and passions.
The
practice of work and temperance brings about a Union with God.
Union
with God
We must
understand that there is a divine dimension of Salesian work, the feeling of
the need for God in all his works. And therefore activity is seen here as a
means of sanctification. This calls for a training of our hearts and minds to a
new tune. A conscious tune that makes us realize that we are in
relationship with God at every moment
of our life.
The
only secret Don Bosco shares with his sons as a spirituality of everyday living
is to fix one’s heart and mind on God.

What is it to be Holy??? by Cl. Nelson Mudaliar sdb
What is it to be Holy???
“You’ve got to find what you love,” said Steve Jobs,
the CEO of Apple Computer and Pixar Animation Studios. Joining the Seminary,
wanting to serve the Lord by spreading His love to all people, I wanted to
taste holiness. Within some weeks, I was lost because my idea of holiness was
taking a roller coaster ride, visiting areas which I never dreamed of.
Well, what do you say? What is holiness according to
you? Will you consider a person holy, who sits in the church all day,
mesmerized in his conversation with God? Or will you call a person holy, who
has a heart for all people? Yes, I do want to become holy. But how, that was
the question pricking my mind.
It was only later, in my living the consecrated life
that I grasped the concept of holiness and now I am working to embrace it and
become one, or rather being open to His Grace and allowing it to work in my
life. I am happy to share it with you.
Prayer is important, firstly. That internal
connection once established, it will automatically push you to be loving, to be
kind to all peoples. Because once tasting the Lord, no one can but want
everyone to have the same experience. In the sharing of this wonderful
experience, one may feel his energy drained out. It is then, prayer acts as a
battery charger. The internal relationship blossoms forth in our external
relationships.
Now, here comes the tricky part. We are not all
same. We have different genes, different looks, different tastes, different
interests and different likings. Why? Because each one of us has a mission to
make this world a beautiful place, which no one else but oneself can do. Just to give an example, in a management
crew, each person is trained for a specific work to do. The effectiveness of
the whole group depends on each member. In the same way, we all have a specific
mission by which we can contribute. In doing so one becomes holy. Just look
around, people have different interests in which they can blossom to the full. How
to fulfill this mission and be holy? Have the courage to follow your heart and
intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Be a live bomb, living life!!! Not to
destroy and spread hatred but to LOVE
and heal all broken hearts. BE
A LOVE BOMB!!!

Forgiveness......By Cl.Melroy. Mascarenhas sdb
Forgiveness
Forgiveness
is an act of ‘love’. A person can forgive another when he/ she loves that
person. You cannot say, “I forgive you, but I hate you…” or “I forgive you, but
I can’t forget the hurt.” Forgiveness is a challenging virtue to practice.
But in the
case of Jesus, it was different. Jesus forgave many people especially he
forgave those who crucified Him. It was a wonderful act of love, mercy and
compassion. If we want to be forgiven, we need to forgive others. To forgive
others means to forgive oneself. The fact is that forgiveness is a choice which
we make between hatred and love. We need to have a big heart to forgive.
When you
forgive others, you feel a warm sense of happiness. It lifts up the Divine
Spirit in us, the Spirit of mercy and compassion. So, take courage to forgive
being conscious of the fact that it is an act of love.
“Always
remember to forgive, and also to forget the reason for which you have shown the
act of forgiveness.”

Frozen- A movie review....By Cl.Christopher. Nadar sdb
FROZEN – True
Love Rules
-A review
This animated movie which is a
result of best hands put together in creativity is worth for a reflection- a
reflection that can change our lives. You can learn so many things from this
movie although it’s quite far away from the reality when it comes to the
animation effects that are portrayed. The whole story format points out to the
reality of life and it also significantly arouses our conscience and touches
our hearts. The base for the whole story of Frozen is created on an important
positive value- LOVE. On the other hand there is this negative value of fear
that dominates a major part of the film. St. Paul in one of his letters says,
“Where there is fear, there is no love.” In the same way, where love prevails,
there is no place for fear. In the film, we see how fear controls the life of
the princess Elsa and we also see how that fear originated. That same fear made
her suffer from loneliness, pain, misunderstanding and forced her to struggle
badly through life. Fear made her repeat the mistakes again and the reason for
that is she could not dare to face the reality. She was running away from the
reality and it affected her, ruining her life. It is same in the context of our
lives. We may not possess those supernatural powers but we do make mistakes in
our power of being human. We may also possess some powers which are
authoritative or dominative. When we make mistakes we too can end up suffering
like the princes Elsa. The princess’ sister Anna plays a key role in describing
to us the worth of true love. Although her sister (Princess Elsa) ignores her,
she is always behind her sister expressing love with her beautiful voice. Her
encounter with the prince Hans and spending of some romantic moments with him
makes her feel that she has reached the gate of true love as it is in many of
our lives. But it’s only when she meets that handsome ice- cutter Kristoff who
helps her and also willingly sacrificed himself for her that she opens her eyes
to the reality, the love that is authentic. Finally when Prince Hans betrays
her on the point of life or death she realizes and remembers the true love that
she experienced spending risk-taking moments and challenges on the way
searching for her sister( Princess Elsa). The climax of true love is caught by
our eyes not when the Kristoff kisses Anna, but only when knowing the sacrifice
of life that her sister made, Elsa cries hugging her sister. And as the story
ends, we see how true love dominates the whole surrounding converting winter
into summer, bringing joy on so many faces. Fear fades away as love rules and
we see this amazing and interesting story come to an end bringing smile on our
faces. That’s something only love can do…..True love. I mean it!!!

The challenge to challenge the challenging.... By Cl.Christopher. Nadar sdb
The Challenge
To Challenge The Challenging
Confusing??? Should not be. What’s challenging in
life? What’s a challenge by the way? Is challenge something good? Why are there
challenges? It is quite a challenging task? I cannot accept challenges anymore.
I quit. No!!!! Stop! I’m not writing this to help you quit. On the contrary, I
want you to understand who you would be without challenges? How dry and raw
life would be without challenges? How beautiful challenges are? Don’t laugh.
Challenges are beautiful, not only that, they are worth the beauty they are.
Challenges can either build you or break you and the good news is that you have
a freedom of choice to let either of the one thing happen to you. You are then
responsible; because freedom and responsibility go hand in hand. The challenges
that ordinarily people face are ones which God knows they can face. When we
look around into people’s lives and see the many who give up when challenges
come along their path our mind gets registered with the thought that giving up
is the right decision when challenges cross our path. But on further enquiry
and personal encounter with the person who gives up you’ll realize to your
surprise that the person is only suffering more because the person is not ready
to accept the reality. Accepting the reality is an important push to challenge
the challenging. When you choose to accept the reality with a confident heart
and mind you’ll see that your whole attitude is new and you have to form that
attitude positive enough to tackle the challenges. Sometimes you’ll personally
be challenged by life and sometimes you may be part of a bigger crowd who are
challenged. To face challenges therefore at times you may need support of
someone else, probably someone who you trust and who can together with you
guide you and support you to face it. Never give up or choose to not face
challenges. By deciding not to face challenges you are deciding not to grow.
When growth does not take place you don’t learn anything and when you don’t
learn, you remain stable in your mental maturity. That is the reason why
challenges are part of each person’s life. There are tremendous benefits for
yourself and for the many others who are facing similar challenges because you
can guide them in facing those challenges courageously. Experience does matter
in life. You have to have the courage, strength and willingness to face
challenges. It’s a challenge to challenge the challenging. When you can
challenge the challenges of life, you are an inspiration to many others who
have lost all hopes. I end with a short poem:
Life may look like a path of roses
But who sees the thorns that hide below the petals
Choice maker you are, so choice you make
Either to quit or the challenge to take
Sometimes alone and sometimes someone
Will walk with you on and on
Bearing pain and struggling too
Walking miles, there may reach few
There it is the victory won
The challenge fades away and a new lesson you learn
Then walking again you fear no more
This is life adding colour much more.

Fading Justice....By Cl.Aegidius. Pereira sdb
Fading
Justice
It
is very alarming to hear that the word ‘Justice’ is soon losing meaning in
society. As the courts which are suppose to render Justice to people are not
doing their part well and so daily more and more women and children are being
raped, corruption is increasing on a large scale, the poor are becoming poorer
due to the selfishness of the rich and the minorities are being oppressed. When
will all this injustice stop and Justice prevail? When will our giant country
wake up and give an answer to injustice. I really don’t know when…But one thing
I can say from the fiber of my being is that Justice always prevails, may be
not today or tomorrow. But truly, some day you will have to pay for the
injustice you have done. So, before it is too late change your way of living
and instead of supporting injustice and being a part of it switch sides and
fight for Justice fight for the truth. Use your power for a good cause and help
your society to grow from a phase where injustice made people suffer, cry, die,
poor and weak to a phase where Justice brings peace joy, love, friendship and
brotherhood in society. So now, Be Wise enough to choose between what is Right
and Wrong and fight for Justice and never let it fade away. Rise my country and
stand for the truth. Jai Hind!

Song Daddy---from the play Youth @ Love
My whole world
turned to grey
And now I stand
in a world full of people I don’t know
You did not even
say goodbye
You just went
and left me to cry
There is no one
who quite understands me anymore
Chorus:
But daddy I’ll love you as long as I live
I’ll bear the pain that this broken heart gives
I’ll make you proud, just wait and see
I will take care of our family
(Ending: Daddy I will love you forever)
Did I do
something awfully bad?
Why did you take
away my dad?
He was the one,
I could rely on anytime
How I hate to
see mummy cry
I just want to
drop down and die
There is no one
who quite understands me anymore
Bridge:
Who will put their arms around me? (Who will
put their arms around me)
Who will teach me to play my guitar? (Teach me
to play my guitar)
Who will kiss me when I wake up each morning? (Kiss me in the morning)
Who will tell me I’m their brightest star? (Tell me I’m their brightest
star)
This song is composed by Mr. Haydn. Dias.
