"Be a dreamer, a practical dreamer. Dream not airy things but convert your dreams into realities as far as possible." - Mohandas K. Gandhi.
This quote is a principle. Just an abstract thought. But following are the lives of two famous men who applied this principle to bring about change in their lives and in the lives of others.
The first personality is known to us. We all have watched some famous Bollywood movies like Krrish, Kites etc. and we also know who the hero of all these films are – Hritik Roshan. We all know a little about this great actor, his achievements and about his films but do we know about the problems he suffered during his childhood up to the age of 35?
Hritik Roshan, even though born in a family that worked in Indian cinema, could not act in any movie because he used to stammer. His dad, Rakesh Roshan, a film director told his son that he would get to act only when he would over-come his stammering. It was Hritik's dream to act but his stammering caused the entire problem. He brings to light all the suffering he faced be-cause of this problem. He recalls that "stammering is hell." As a young boy, he was teased and made fun of since he could not speak fluently. He used to bunk class, fall sick, break a hand or have a sprain during oral examinations to avoid the embarrassment. But the dream of becoming an actor was always at the back of his mind.
In order to achieve his dream, he began taking speech therapy classes to overcome his stammering. He did this with a strong will power. It took a lot of effort but payed off in due time. When he could speak clearly, his father, as promised directed a film in 2000 Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai this being Hritik‘s first major debut. Today Hritik is one of the most loved actor of Bollywood and has fulfilled the dream that he had dreamt for himself.
Another person who followed his dreams and made them real was Don Bosco. He is a dreamer saint. In his entire life, he had a total of recorded dreams. It is through these dreams that God manifested to Don Bosco his life‘s mission.
The dream that he received at the age of 9 is a very well known dream in which he saw the vision of Jesus and Mary and they entrusted him with the mission of working for poor and aban-doned boys. This is the charism of the priests and brothers of the Salesian Society.
This is how dreams change lives. By accepting and fol-lowing our dreams, we can bring a change to both; our lives, like Hritik, and to the lives of many others, like Don Bosco.
All we need to do is find within us that something which itches. Find what you want to do in your life. Begin dreaming about it and do not forget to open your eyes and make your dreams into realities.
SEARCH FOR WHAT ITCHES WITHIN YOU,
DREAM BIG AND ACHIEVE BIG.
Wishing you all a happy DREAM-COME-TRUE-EXPERIENCE.
